This online educational module explores the relationships between cardiovascular disease, obesity, metabolic syndrome and the risk of complications associated with implant treatment. It discusses shared biological mechanisms, including chronic low-grade inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, insulin resistance and oxidative stress.
Participants will learn how cardiovascular status, body composition, metabolic abnormalities, medications and functional limitations may affect treatment planning, healing and long-term peri-implant care. The module emphasizes comprehensive medical history, identification of modifiable risk factors and collaboration with the patient’s physician when necessary. These conditions are presented as factors requiring individualized assessment rather than universal contraindications to dental implant therapy.
