Autologous Platelet-Derived Fibrin in Reconstructive Peri-Implantitis Surgery was presented as part of the PERI-EDU research programme during the 9th Congress of the Polish Dental Association at Ptak Warsaw Expo.

Research question
Study design
The search covered Embase, PubMed/MEDLINE, Litmaps, Scopus, Web of Science and CENTRAL through 24 July 2026. Seven eligible reports represented five independent cohorts, including two comparative trials. Minimum follow-up was six months; certainty was assessed with GRADE.
Main findings
- Only two independent comparative trials could be pooled, and their effect directions were inconsistent.
- For probing-depth reduction, the pooled mean difference was 0.15 mm (95% CI -1.10 to 1.39; I²=87.3%).
- For clinical attachment-level gain, the pooled mean difference was 0.46 mm (95% CI -1.54 to 2.46; I²=94.8%).
- Uncontrolled studies reported improvements, but multimodal protocols prevented isolation of the fibrin-matrix effect; no major matrix-specific safety signal emerged.
Interpretation
Autologous fibrin matrices can be incorporated into reconstructive protocols, but current evidence does not demonstrate a reliable additional benefit over established approaches. Certainty is very low, and better standardized randomized trials are required.
