During WDI 2026, students of dentistry at Wroclaw Medical University took part in a peri-implantitis educational session developed within the PERI-EDU project. As a result, 16 students will receive digital micro-credentials confirming their participation and achieved learning outcomes.
The micro-credential programme, entitled “Systemic Determinants of Peri-Implantitis: Evidence-Based Risk Assessment and Clinical Management,” focuses on the relationship between systemic diseases, inflammation and peri-implant tissue pathology. Students learn how to assess peri-implantitis not only as a local clinical problem, but also in the context of general health, chronic diseases, inflammatory and immunological factors, and selected clinical or laboratory markers relevant to risk assessment.
This activity is directly connected with the main objective of PERI-EDU: integrating current peri-implantitis research into higher education and developing evidence-based teaching materials and clinical tools for dental education. The introduction of micro-credentials is an important educational result of the project, as it links project outcomes with formal university-level learning and recognition of students’ competences.
