A case report prepared and presented within the PERI-EDU project was showcased during WDI 2026. The poster, authored by Dr Jacek Matys, focused on the use of Er:YAG laser-assisted explantation in the surgical management of an implant affected by advanced peri-implantitis.
The presentation outlined a clinical case involving advanced peri-implant tissue destruction, implant removal, peri-implant defect decontamination and early postoperative healing. The case also included the assessment of selected CBC-derived inflammatory indices, highlighting the potential role of systemic inflammatory markers as additional tools in the evaluation of patients with peri-implantitis.
The work was presented as part of the scientific and educational activities carried out within PERI-EDU, supporting the project’s objective of integrating current peri-implantitis research into higher education and clinical learning.
